The UKBT Club Championships will bring together all levels of players competing on behalf of their club. Every result counts as the Club Championships will aim to boost the beach volleyball club structure within the UK. 

Club Championships Format

The Championships (Division 1) will be an elite level competition where the clubs will select their teams. 

  • 2-day event - Saturday & Sunday

  • Each club can enter a maximum of q squad per gender

  • A squad consists of 2 teams (4 athletes)

  • Ultimately the Club leadership should oversee and select the teams who will be competing in the Championship division. 

  • Selection process is at the full discretion of the Club leadership.

  • Entry fee will be around £140 per squad

  • No players competing in the Championship division will be eligible to compete in other divisions

  • The club may replace players should an injury or an athlete become unavailable prior to the tournament. 

  • 1 extra player can be listed as a reserve. This player can be from the Trophy division.

  • Club eligibility will be checked with the club before the competition


The Trophy (Division 2) will be a tournament for all other teams from the club.

  • Male & Female pairs: Saturday

  • Mixed pairs: Sunday

  • Clubs are encouraged to promote the Trophy division to all other members of the club.

  • Pair will enter as a pair

  • No players competing in the Trophy division will be eligible to compete in other divisions

  • Entry fee will be around £135 per team

  • Club eligibility will be checked with the club before the competition

 

The Junior U18s Division will be a tournament where the clubs will select their teams. 

  • 2-day event - Saturday & Sunday

  • Each club is able to enter a maximum of 3 squads per gender.

  • Each squad consists of 2 teams (4 athletes)

  • Squad to be chosen by club selection/nomination process

  • Ultimately the Club leadership should oversee and select the teams who will be competing in the Junior division. 

  • Selection process is at the full discretion of the Club leadership.

  • Entry fee will be around £80 per squad

  • No players competing in the Championship division will be eligible to compete in other divisions

  • The club may replace players should an injury or an athlete become unavailable prior to the tournament. 

  • 1 extra player can be listed as a reserve. This player can be from the Trophy division.

  • Club eligibility will be checked with the club before the competition


Team Entry Process

All entries must be made directly through the UKBT website at: www.ukbeachtour.com/major-event-entry

 

Tournament Format

In the Championships & Junior Tournament:

  • Clubs will be placed in pools of 3, 4 or 5 (dependent on number of entries)

  • Clubs will compete as a squad of 2 teams and the club will be seeded by their UKBT seeding points. The highest-ranked team will be Team 1 & the lowest-ranked team will be Team 2.

  • Overall club seeding  will be based on the total amount of UKBT points of both teams

  • Teams must stay in their original pairings throughout the tournament (excluding golden sets)

  • During a match, the following format will be used:

    • Club A - Team 1 vs Club B - Team 1

    • Club A - Team 2 vs Club B - Team 2

    • Full FIVB scoring - 21, 21, 15 (2 clear)

  • Should it be a tie then a golden set will be played immediately following the match to 15 points (2 clear)

    • The club will decide the team and may consist of a mixture of players from Team 1 & 2

 

In the Trophy Division Tournaments:

  • Teams will be placed in pools of 3, 4 or 5 (dependent on number of entries)

  • Pools will be seeded in accordance with UKBT seeding points - However the UKBT may alter seedings should a pool be made up of more than 2 teams from a single club

  • Reduced scoring (minimum of 1 set to 21 or 15,15,11) will be used

  • Clubs may compete against fellow club teams throughout the tournament

 

Club/Player Eligibility

Clubs must organise at least one UKBT event in the current season to be eligible to compete at the UKBT Club Championships. 

In order to qualify to compete for a club. The player must:

  • Hold a valid UKBT membership

  • Chosen their affiliated club on their UKBT profile

  • Attend regular training sessions at the club

  • Be cleared by the club to compete when UKBT checks entry

 

Uniform

  • Championships & Juniors: Teams will be required to wear club uniform

  • Trophy: Teams aren’t required to wear club uniform but it is encouraged to do so

 

UKBT Ranking Points

For UKBT ranking points, events will be classed as the following:

  • Championships: 4-Star/Open

  • Trophy Single Gender: 3-Star

  • Trophy Mixed: 2-Star

  • Under 18: Under 18

 

Club Championships Results

The overall Club Champions will be decided on points, calculated by adding the below together

  • Total points from the teams representing the club in the Championships

  • The points from the highest ranked team in each Trophy and under 18 tournament per club

  • The points from the lowest ranked team in each Trophy and under 18 tournament per club

  • An average of the remaining results from the teams in each Trophy and under 18 tournament per club
